Beyond gathering the pretty inspiration pics and booking all the vendors for your big day - the wedding day timeline is a must-do part of the wedding planning. It helps ensure that everything runs smoothly and that you have enough time to enjoy your special day. However, there are a few common mistakes that couples make when creating their wedding day timeline.

Here are the top 5 mistakes to avoid when creating your wedding day timeline. I will also provide you with some tips on how to create a solid timeline for your wedding day!

1. Not starting early enough.

One of the biggest mistakes couples make is not starting early enough on their wedding day timeline. Set up usually takes longer than expected, so it's important to start early. This will give you plenty of time to make changes and adjustments as needed.  Also make sure to touch base with your beauty team, as they would need ample time to get everyone’s hair and makeup ready.

2. Not being realistic about your time constraints.

It's also important to be realistic about your time constraints when creating your wedding day timeline. Don't try to cram too much into one day. This will only lead to stress and chaos. Allow extra space (at least 15 minutes) between major events within the day, and allow even more time than you think you may need if there’s a change in venue between ceremony and reception as well as transportation.

3. Not communicating with your vendors.

It's essential to communicate with your vendors regularly so that everyone is on the same page. This will help to avoid any confusion or misunderstandings on your wedding day.  Make sure to send your final timeline to all your vendors, and also to make sure you note to please reply back to confirm start/end times.

4. Not having a backup plan.

Things don't always go according to plan on your wedding day, so it's important to have a backup plan. This could include a plan for bad weather or a plan for unexpected delays.

5. Not leaving enough time for yourself.

It's important to leave enough time for yourself on your wedding day. This means taking time to relax, get ready, and enjoy the moment.  Make this part of your timeline, and notate on there specific times where you’d like private time together to freshen up, breathe and to take it all in.

Having a timeline in place for your wedding day is crucial, it’s essentially your months (maybe years!) of planning expressed in a single document! While it can seem daunting at first, having a wedding day timeline in place ahead of time (1-2 weeks before your big day) I assure you, it will actually give you a sense of ease and accomplishment!  Everyone essential to your wedding’s success, including your wedding party, vendors and VIP guests can look into the same timeline and understand your wishes for events of the day.

I hope these tips help you avoid these common mistakes and create the perfect wedding day timeline! Having trouble putting a timeline together?  I’m happy to help you with that - let’s chat!

Marquee Initials: Alpha Lit Boise

For M+J’s wedding, DJ Ricky at Sound Wave Events got everyone in the right mood from the ceremony all the way to the sparkler exit! There’s nothing like a full dance floor, in a tent, under the stars! The vibe was fun, easy going and lively. While I’m usually in the side lines prepping for décor take down at this time, I found myself dancing along as well!

Having a professional wedding DJ at your wedding can truly make all the difference in creating a memorable and enjoyable experience for you and your guests. While it may be tempting to hire a family friend to save money, there are several benefits to hiring a wedding DJ services for your wedding:

  1. Experience: A professional DJ has the experience and expertise to read the crowd and keep the energy level high throughout the night. They have a vast music library and can cater to a variety of musical tastes and age groups. They also know how to seamlessly transition between songs and keep the dance floor packed. As a tip, create a list of wedding DJ questions to ask your potential wedding DJ’s and make sure to ask them about their experience specifically with weddings. Additionally, read wedding DJ reviews when conducting your search.

  2. The Right Stuff: A professional DJ has top-of-the-line wedding DJ equipment and knows how to set up and operate it properly. This ensures that the sound quality is excellent and that there are no technical issues during the event. Some wedding DJ packages even include dance floors and additional lighting.

  3. Emcee Skills: A professional DJ can act as an emcee, making announcements and keeping the timeline of events on track. This takes the pressure off of the bride, groom, and wedding party and ensures that everything runs smoothly.

  4. Neutrality: A professional DJ is a neutral party and can remain objective in selecting and playing music. This can prevent any awkward situations that may arise if a family friend plays music that is not to everyone's liking.

Overall, a professional DJ can add a level of professionalism and expertise to your wedding that a family friend may not be able to provide. In this case, the benefits are well worth the wedding DJ cost for a truly memorable and enjoyable experience, which you deserve to have on your wedding!

Weatherproof: To Tent or Not to Tent, That is the question..

M+C enjoy their first dance as Mr. & Mrs. under the stars of their clear wedding tent

Photos by Chasing Light Photography

Having an elegant wedding tent for your outdoor wedding is crucial from a wedding planner's perspective. Not only do outdoor wedding tents provide shelter from unexpected weather conditions, but it also adds an element of sophistication to your event.

With a large wedding tent, you have the freedom to design your space exactly how you want it, without being limited by the natural surroundings. It also allows for better control over the lighting and temperature, ensuring that you and your guests are comfortable throughout the entire celebration.

Most wedding tent rentals also offer wedding tent accessories, such as romantic sweeping fabrics and can recommend the best wedding tent lighting ideas to customize your décor. Most rental providers also provide wedding tent setups, but do confirm this before booking.

M+C opted for one of the clear wedding tents from Idaho Tents and Events for their fall wedding in beautiful Sixty Chapel in Garden Valley Idaho. They wanted guests to be able to enjoy all the mountain views (not to mention the stars at night!) that the area provided.

Overall, choosing a tent for an outdoor wedding is a practical and stylish option that can elevate the overall experience for everyone involved.
